You seem to be doing all that you can. Are you emailing ideas and helping the bride research things? That's something you can do. Have you contacted the other bridesmaid to see if she needs you to do anything for the bachelorette party? Maybe you can help her with something for that? Call the bride and see if she needs anything, and just listen to her and be supportive. There is only so much you can do being so far away, but I'm sure she wants you as her MOH because she loves you and most likely doesn't expect too much since you are so far. You have not done anything wrong :)

No problem,

1. Don't try to be funny...the best man can embarrass the groom, but the maid of honor should NEVER embarrass the bride.

2. Be sweet. This is your mom's big day. Just say how wonderful she is and how happy you are. Don't try to qualify it with reality.

3. Keep it concise. Don't read a novel, just relate how wonderful she is and give one or two really good examples.

4. Don't read off a card. You can have notes, but practice this speech until you can do it off 2-4 bullet points.

5. Keep it on your mother. Don't talk about siblings, cousins, family, etc...except as they relate to her.

6. Keep it clean. No birthing stories. No sickness stories. No angry stories. No sad stories. Just happy ones. And NOTHING that even HINTS of sex.

7. Rehearse. If uhh..you like...uhhh....don't, like...you know...rehearse...or whatever....you're going to uhh...sound like...a...you know....retard....totally.

8. Lists of achievements are always welcome. Good filler!

9. Make sure to praise the groom towards the end.

10 Complete with a toast...remember, it IS a toast. So don't forget to raise your glass.

Good Luck!

Maybe you could start with a few funny stories to loosen things up. Then express what an honor it is for you to be there for your mom. Maybe mention a few good things about her new husband and how happy he has made your mom. And then wish them all the happiness life has to offer. Take the time to make some notes and it will come together.

keep it short and sweet. tell your mom how much you love her, that you are grateful for all she has done for you, that you are happy for her and that it's her turn to have a great life with the man she loves.

Maybe start by telling them of the kind of mother she is, something funny or cute your mom has said to you or done.

That you wish her the best in her marriage and hope that one day you can find that "perfect" guy to love and get married to.

If you like her husband, tell her that she has made a great choice. Tell her how wonderful it is being her daughter even though you probably had your ups and downs with the years. Tell her no matter what, you will always be there for the both of them. Welcome her new husband into the family. Good Luck and hopes this helps.

Definitely do not get drunk.

Take your time with writing the speech and think about what it is you want to say.

I assume that as you're maid of honour you're happy your mum is remarrying so tell her that and about how proud you are to be her daughter. Tell her new husband that you can't wait for you all to be a family.

See if you can dig up any slightly funny/dodgy stories about when she was younger (has she got brothers or sisters who could spill the beans?) and take the chance to have a little good natured laugh WITH her.
